Feast | Thief Issue 3 | 19 February 2017

Many thanks to ed. Rosemary Long at Tribe for publishing “Feast” in Thief: Issue 3, just out today.  To jump to the story, here’s a  link.

I’m excited to see the table of contents also includes stories by many writers whose work I admire, including Stephanie Hutton and Nod Ghosh.

This is one of the shorter stories I’ve had published lately, weighing in at only 100 words. It’s a look at the future, and was written in future-perfect tense, which gives it that uncanny weird feeling of inevitability. Future perfect is weird.

That’s a fun exercise, by the way.  Choose a tense, or a part of speech, and write a story using only that form.  I think I had an all-verb story go up on Visual Verse once about Ted Talks.  :o)

In any case, I hope you enjoy the new issue of Thief — they put a lot of time and thought in  the design, and the artwork is very apropos!  “Feast” has an animation behind it — that’s a first for me and I think it’s really sharp. Something about that knife in the ham…

The animator, Tugce Audoire, does not have a Twitter page, but she’s got other samples of her work available on Vimeo, here.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and I hope you enjoy “Feast.”

p.s. the featured image on this blog post is of a Giant Ichneumon Wasp. There’s something a bit terrifying about them, too. But that’s a story for another day.

  1. Nice job, Anne. Just read your 100 medical doozy and those pieces by Stephanie and Nod are stellar as well. Love the animation behind yours. Congrats on this fine work!
